Many authors dream of having their book turned into a movie or television show. But, very few know what the process is to make this happen. Whether or not an author attempts to write the screenplay adaptation for his or her own book depends entirely on the level of experience he or she has with writing screenplays, says author, screenwriter, and producer Brandyn Cross. If you have years of screenwriting under your belt like he does, you are likely the best person to adapt your book to a screenplay. It will save you time, money, and lots of headaches to do it yourself, Cross says. If you don't have the skills or know-how to write your own adaptation, you'll need to find agent representation or connect with a studio that is willing to invest in your project.
