Do's and Don'ts For Creating A Successful Book Event - video

Book events are excellent ways to general sales and excitement around your book. But planning a book event can be daunting for a new author. Children’s book buyer and editor Tegan Tigani provides inventive tips for creating a successful book event. She says that one of the keys to a successful book event is working your network. Don't assume the bookstore or venue is going to market the event for you—you need to bring your own audience. Also, be creative and include extras that tie into your book at your event, such as food, music, games, or characters, instead of just your basic reading and signing. Remember to bring extra books in case the bookstore sells out.

  • Thank you. This is worth trying. Hyacinth Anyanwu, author of What is my mission.
  • Got a couple of good ideas that might work for me -- like having different characters from the book show up to mingle with guests. Thanks! From rrramage@comcast.net
  • This has been helpful to hear. As I am preparing for a very big public event near my home town area where my books will be displayed, I keep looking for more ways I will be able to enhance the book's display area to make it a more inviting area to be visited by the public for when that event arrives. From what I've heard on this video, it encourages me to prepare well for the event that I'll be a part of. Thanks to Mrs. Tegan for her shared advice.
