Making Your Event Successful - video
Amazing bookstore events don't just happen, they are crafted with care says Julie Wernersbach, publicist for Austin-based indie bookstore BookPeople. She advise sthat adequate time and resources are spent getting people to attend and that authors speak about their experience creating their book instead of reading aloud. Audiences are best engaged with details about the writing process, Q&A and anecdotes. Additional elements that make bookstore events successful are creative use of themes to complement the story.

This was rather insightful, since I intend to launch me as an author, novelist here in my country (locally) together with my four titles. I'm in the process of planning that event, the programme in particular and I didn't really like the part where the author should read a bit from the book, even though I believe it should be included because from my perspective and clearly from Julie's, they will read that when they purchase the book anyway. So, the part where the author should engage the audience is where I felt was rather creative, since I engage my students during all my lectures, something I found works for me and has worked for me in the past. I will certainly remember to do this in the event.

I need help in getting lists of ministers and church professionals as well as getting the information to Seminary Libraries. Also how do I get the information out to bookstores beyond just having it in Amazon. I have sent e-mail to Hobby Lobby with no success. Allen D. Mitchell
