The Value of a Blog Tour - podcast
Blog tours for authors are a trend of the times. These days, publishers usually do not send authors on an actual book tour, and authors are expected to market themselves. Leah Ingram, spokesperson and author of "Suddenly Frugal: How to Live Happier and Healthier for Less," talks about how valuable a blog tour can be for an author. It's an efficient way to get the word out about your book. To get started, reach out to like-minded bloggers and see if they will post one of your articles, videos, podcasts, book trailers or other materials on their blogs. These guest posts ultimately push traffic and visibility back to your own blog so that you can increase readership and potentially boost book sales.

Hello Leatha, I know it can seem daunting at first. We do aim to to provide each writer information that they need, when they need it. However what I think you need, would be different than the next author I speak to. This is why we let you build your own educational path. If this clip seemed overwhelming, try searching by keywords within this site. For example, if you are wanting to build up your Facebook presence so you can one day do a virtual tour, start there. Build your base then go from there. Its a process. Don't give up!

I am in complete agreement with Emma Thompson. Secondly, there should be some assistance--perhaps a tutorial regarding different aspects of social media (blogs, becoming savvy on Facebook, et cetera). Most of the participants in these videos offer nothing substantial for the authors. I think this website could do more to give their authors the direction (books to read, courses to take) to acquire the necessary skills to sell their books. After all, how did the participants in these videos acquire their skills?

There wasn't much information in this video. All videos I've watch on this sight just tell us all that doing this or that is a good idea but give no information on how to do anything they talk about. This is useless! I do want to do a blog tour but I wouldn't know where to start or how. Do we need to have our own blogs to do this? How do we find suitable blogs to contact? How do we know which blogs our suitable? What do we post? How do we do this on a budget? I have very little funds for my marketing and cant afford to have trailers made or to hire any help. Please give us more information.
