When author AE Wasserman was planning her most recent book launch event, she knew it had to take place in a pub. The main character of her historical novels frequents British pubs, many of which still exist today after over a century. Wasserman’s own launch was in a pub in Southern California. She worked with the pub to create specialty drinks inspired by her books and served a British dessert called trifle. The party, which was supposed to last two hours, went on for over five hours. Wasserman spoke about her work and signed book copies. She credits her large attendance to her promotion efforts; she shared details of the event on social media, in newsletters, through email and postal mail, and to her writers groups.
