The Unique Aspects of Marketing Toward the YA and Middle Grade Audience - video
Author P.J. Hoover discusses the unique strategies that go into marketing young adult books versus middle grade books. When it comes to marketing YA books vs. middle grade, you have to know your audience. Young adult books target children in middle school and teens. Middle grade books target children in the later grades of elementary school. Book marketing strategies in these two markets is very different. For middle grade book, the audience is largely dependent on librarians, parents, and teachers to suggest and supply books. For young adult books, the audience is more aware of outside media and word of mouth for book suggestions.
