Author and book PR/marketing expert A.G. Billig shares what she’s found to be the most effective marketing channels for creating awareness for books.
First is word of mouth. This may not seem as obvious as social media, she says, but word of mouth is how people naturally communicate. When we like something, we tend to tell family and friends and make a recommendation. This can be very powerful marketing. If you write a good book that leaves an impression, readers will let their network of family and friends know.
The second marketing channel that Billig recommends is an email list. The individuals that sign up for your emails and newsletters are your most loyal fans that want to know what's going on with you and your work. They will be the first to buy your next book.
The third channel requires a bit of an investment, but can provide a great return if done correctly. Investing in paid ads on websites like Amazon, for example, can help you rise above the competition.
