In order for a book's release to be as successful as possible, there are several things authors should do leading up to launch. First, book marketing expert and New Shelves Books Executive Director Keri-Rae Barnum recommends that authors acquire reviews. Per Barnum, up to 86% of readers look for a review before purchasing a book. Don't assume that your loyal fans know how and when to leave a review for your book. Make it as easy as possible for them. Second, Barnum recommends that you have a marketing communication plan in place including social media posts, blog posts, and any other promotional activity. A concentrated effort at launch will go a long way in creating awareness and sales for your book's release.
