How to Focus Book Marketing Efforts and Be Consistent When on a Budget

Morgan James Publishing founder and bestselling author David Hancock believes authors need "multiple weapons" when it comes to book marketing, and that it doesn't have to cost a lot of money. The key, he says, is getting yourself out there consistently to create awareness. Studies have shown that people need to hear your message or hear about your book numerous times before they are willing to consider buying. To create this awareness, Hancock suggests authors create a presence on social media, build an email marketing list, and utilize local media. All of these efforts work together to shorten the time frame it takes for people to recognize you or your book, and potentially make the purchase. Hancock recommends authors try to accomplish five marketing-related tasks a day, and to exercise patience. It will take time and persistence to create awareness for your work.
