Partnering With Your Local Bookstore - video
Amazon may be a click away, but don't underestimate your relationship with local bookstores. Julie Wernersbach, publicist for Austin-based BookPeople, reminds authors of various ways to partner with local bookstores: provide a website link to the store's site, visit in person to say hello, do book signings, follow the store on social media and offer content for their blogs. By promoting and supporting the store, you are likely to find your book in stock. Consider, too, that the store can fulfill orders--perhaps even internationally. Bookstores tend to be supportive and invested in "their hometown crew," so consider how you can best support them.

Good idea; I never thought about it. My first book; "A Christmas Friend," was published in November, 2013. I am writing two more books - another children's book and a novel - both should be finished this year. My main bookstore is B&N at The Americana in Glendale, Cal. so I will certainily try to join them in the partnership you describe. Thanks, Julie.

Thank you for your comments. I live and work very close to B& N. Can't wait to get my hands on my copy of my book: "Memories from the Heart" I teach within a 1/2 mile from the bkstore, and I really do want them to order my book! Officially, I became a published author on 11/08/13.
