Publishing Trends: Expansion & Consolidation - podcast

Philippa Burgess of Creative Convergence, Inc., talks about two trends in book publishing that have changed the rules for content creators, including authors: expansion and consolidation. On one hand, it’s easier to tell your story and get it out into the marketplace, and on the other hand it's harder to get a traditional publisher, network, or studio to be interested in your work. As major publishers consolidate and adapt to the evolving industry, it becomes more difficult for authors to enter that traditional world. But as online media spaces expand, it's easier than ever for authors to tell their story through self-publishing, blogging, or podcasting.
