Too often an author secures an agent to represent their interests when selling the rights to their book and backs off, thinking that's the agent's job now. And it is the agent's job--but there's quite a bit a savvy author can do to help make that agent's job easier, and secure an even greater return on your book. Agent Judy Klein offers a few of the ways authors can pay attention to the things they're already doing: speaking, attending conferences, winning awards. Events such as these give authors a unique platform with which to springboard into greater opporutunities. Don't let yourself fall into the trap of thinking the thing you're doing is too small to be important. When you're marketing your book, oftentimes the smallest things pay the largest dividends.
