A lifelong fanatic of Star Wars, award-winning author Ken Liu never imagined he would be invited to contribute to the Star Wars universe, but that's exactly what happened. He received an email from Lucasfilm Publishing, inviting him to discuss a potential collaboration on a book project. Lucasfilm, the American film and television company behind the Star Wars franchise, also publishes novels, non-fiction, children’s, and comic books. The project involved a series of books written by different authors that would create excitement leading up to the eighth film in the franchise, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Liu pitched his idea for a collection of myths and tall-tales about the legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker and they accepted. His book in the series, The Legends of Luke Skywalker, was published in 2017 and he was also featured in the anthology Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View.
My daughter's cat was named after a character in one of Ken Liu's novels. He is an excellent writer and I'm ecstatic that he got this opportunity. I am also excited as a fan because Ken can bring it. I will be reading this endeavor ASAP.
I really enjoyed interviewing him. Quite an interesting writer.
