Author and educator Tara Botel Doherty grew up in Hollywood during the ‘70s and ‘80s, and she used that experience to create her short story collection Growing Up Hollywood and its two main characters, Annie and Grace. Because of her personal connection to the story, Doherty calls the book a labor of love, which makes her all the more eager to write the collection’s subsequent trilogy. She considers herself a planner, so all the titles and content for the three books are already arranged and decided. Doherty hopes to continue to build her fan base, especially targeting readers who are interested in Hollywood, which Doherty considers to be a character itself.
