Writing workshops can be an invaluable tool to all writers, new or published. Classes and workshops can build confidence, combat writer's block, or serve as a means of interacting with other writers. Author Beth Hermes, teacher of a “Creative Writing Boot Camp” at FoxTale Book Shoppe in Woodstock, Georgia, designed her program to force writers to get out of their own way. She finds that many writers tend to over think their writing. Her three-hour course includes numerous writing prompts and she is always impressed with the quality of the writing that comes out of these exercises. Meant to spawn ideas and inspire, these prompts often surprise the writers themselves, rejuvenating their love for writing and motivating them to keep going.
