Title Leading Story - video

National bestselling children’s author R.L. Stine shares inspiration on how to come up with story ideas. He typically thinks of a great book title first, and then creates a story from the title. This technique is the reverse of what most authors would do, but it shows us that there is more than one way to create new stories. It is also a great example of how to play on our strengths. He knows what works for him and he replicates it every time. Find what works for you in story development, then leverage it every time.

    Very inspirational. I have that hapen to me, words or whole stories just pop into my head. I am a first time author and have just self published two childrens books through Xlibris. The stories just come to me, and I have already written sequels to both. I have had no formal training just a heart desire, from who knows where. Thanks

    Mr Stine, firstly I adore your books and when i was younger, made it my mission to own and read each and every copy. I suceeded and you even signed a copy of a book for me when i was in L.A many years ago. I love the fact that your books are written in a different way, I myself seem to work completely backwards and usually find it easier to have my ending before i even have my beginning, which then adapts later when i get to that section of my book. My first book title, seems to me, quite cliche however i wanted to manipulate the the meaning behind my title from something innocent, bright and loving to dark, broken and murderous, however only time will tell if i achieved this goal. Thank you for your advice :)
