There are many benefits to writing with a co-author. But like any relationship, it can become strained under pressure. During the writing and editing process, due to time constraints and the pressure for perfection, it's easy to slip into the habit of only giving negative feedback. Make it a point to also acknowledge the good aspects of your partner's writing. One of the benefits of having a partner in writing is that there's someone going through the struggle of writing with you. Celebrate the moments of victory with each other, such as when you fix a problematic chapter or transition.
