Motivation for Anthologies - podcast

Anthologies have become a reflection of the cycle of life for author Victoria Zackheim, and they originated by accident. Zackheim has created five anthologies in all, exploring topics like infidelity, body image and acceptance, the dreams of youth and reality of age, how women were affected by a man's words, and how humor takes the sting out of death. Zackheim's motivation? Ironically, age. At 60-years-old, she decided to take risks and gauged failure as giving up, not trying. She advises that authors think about how they want others to view life and have the courage to express it.

  • Victiria, Thank you. It's was good to hear you talk about anthologies. I am 79, have self published 1 book, am in the process of writing another. Unlike you, and many other women, I never felt my age was a problem. My first book is entitled,"The Town of Never, Never". My 2nd book is entitled "God Is My Super Hero". It's about children from 7 different parts of the world who have terminal cancer and who talk to their special dolls to help them through the process of living, having faith @ hope/survival. The reason for my choosing cancer is because I'm a cancer survivor. The story of the children takes place in a hospital pod where they talk to each other and share their individual experiences. Writing the book has taken a lot of energy but it's worth it. P.S. Always wanted to write but when I was diagnosed, realized I would use the time constructively. Again thank you for sharing your story. Arvella E. Edwards
