Hi, I found this interesting in creating a project and seeing it through to completion. I am a newbe non-fiction writer and my book The Holodeck a Specification should be out in December 2019. This was no easy write as I had to design the simulator to simulate the functions of a photonic processor and I also had to study how molecules interact in order to fully understand how a Holodeck could function.
Stephen King;
Hmmm... they say he is America's greatest Novelist and I have this tendency to totally agree with them.
But honestly the video I saw is only a marketing material, though it is amazing and inspiring but not for writing a Novel. It is more inspiring for individuals to work in collaboration to build a society etc.
I suggest you look carefully through the thick glasses of Stephan, and focus on how his eyes are effectively denying the words coming out of his mouth. Isn't he who once said on writing:
" write with the door closed, rewrite with the door open" ?
Ernest Hemingway devoted: " there is nothing on writing. All you do is sit at your typewriter and Bleed."
So bleeding is very personal, very private, anything but public. You do not want to bleed especially in front of your son.You go to your Hermit Desk and squeeze your heart and apply the reddish black drops on your white paper.
Writing is going to your basement and mutely prepare your bomb with full concentration and extreme discretion. You know the effect, you know everything but you never want to share it. Everything you may want to discuss later or the opinions you might fake-take advantage of etc... are very far from the truth of what happened when you were there, alone trying to destroy the purity of your white paper with some stains of your imagination.
Has ever Stephen King Did this before? No. Why is he doing this now with Owen? Because this is what the king usually do with secret deep dismay. He smoothly prepare his son to the throne.
Sincerely
Dany Jabbour
