Write On Online, an online community for writers, creatives, and entrepreneurs, started as a live writers support group in the 1990s, founded by author, goal coach, and project catalyst Debra Eckerling. Writers would meet monthly to set goals, network, and get feedback on their writing. By 2008, Eckerling created an accompanying website and Facebook group, so that participants could stay connected online and network with even more writers. While online networking is great, Eckerling says that real-life connections are even better. She suggest writers attend conferences, bookstore and library events, and local meetups to find like-minded people and share ideas and encouragement.
