Thinking Through Writer's Block - podcast
What is writer’s block? True writer's block is when you avoid writing through procrastination, over researching, or you have simply lost all interest in writing. Author Amber Scott breaks down how to overcome writer's block. When you have writer's block, your brain has created such a high level of anxiety that you are unable to overcome your fears. The best way to rise above this is to first, embrace the fear and understand that it's okay to have them. Next, find the root cause of it. One helpful tip is to have a tantrum on paper. Purge all of the angst and fears about your writing or other factors in your life affecting your work to see what you're really feeling. Are these rational fears? Are they true? Then, turn it around and write the opposite, introducing an alternative that your brain can begin to accept so that you can move past your writer's block.
