To complement his travel poetry, award-winning poet Marc Nair recently started taking photographs and integrating them into his collections. Travel poetry is meant to capture the joy of exploration and inspire. Nair's book Spomenik, is a collection of poems and photos from a trip to the Balkans that share a glimpse of life across a multitude of cities, crossing terrains of history, war, culture and faith. Nair did not set out to make literal connections between his photos and poetry, but to invite the reader to make their own connections using all five senses. His goal was to replicate the feelings of travel, indirectly bringing readers on a journey to another place. Nair believes that understanding your perceived audience and the connection you are trying to make is essential in creating poetry that resonates with readers.
Hi Earl. Dr. Earl Edmonds Homeless Poetry Epic Poet & Governor Of IIA LLC. We make the relation between the Cucumber that's sour and a street being stinky as if the Cucumber was left out all day. Furthermore, we relate our seeing, hearing, smelling and touching between what the story is about and the photo of exact environments shown to make us feel the story raising higher interest as well as thought process. It's very engaging.
Marc Nair's unique idea is very interesting like geometry. It takes on another shape. He came from a different angle and then solves the problem. I write Mental Health Poetry even when I traveled to Glendale, California on a blue Amtrak. My craft is Novel Writing called "The Professional Home Government Office" About Homelessness In America. I think of street and cucumber, I smell; that's good or bad based on the environment of how clean or dirty it is. Photos are symbolic of my best experiences which it's the opposite end of my relationship. I move the homeless to their best environment directly. I'll use photos that's direct.
How do you add pictures when your poetry is mainly about emotion?
I do have a vision of art when I write some of my poetry, I think its important to reflect how your emotional state is. So pictures along with his works sounds perfect.
I like the comment from Travel Poetr, because it confirm to me how to Title my book and how to know what my reason for writing is.
