Self-Published Novel Picked up by Traditional Publisher - podcast

Self-publishing helped author P.J. Hoover sell both her book "Solstice" and "The Middle Grade Story" to a traditional publisher. She credits the publicity she initiated and the way she outlined these efforts for the publisher for facilitating the book deal.

  • Patricia, insightful. I've self-published one novel and I hope to do what it takes to find a traditional publisher.
  • thanks for sharing
  • Patricia, I found your story interesting. I had my book Move Forward self published by Xlibris 30/7/2013 then revised 15/8/2013 because I missed some errors. I now find there are a few more errors and I can see why I should have paid for an editor in the first place. Also I find 178 pages is more of a Novelette and I wonder if I should add to it and pitch it to traditional publishers. I would value any thoughts on this. Happy Writing, Sylvia Harvie.
  • Patricia makes a good point as I am also busy with my first book and my grandfather is helping to edit it I would like to know as well if it will effect me as a writer later on
  • I just finished my first book and I was told by my friend that there were some mistakes in the book because I couldn't afford a editor to edit my book my daughter and sister help do it. Will this effect my book and in what way will it hurt me as a writer. I must tell you that I have no great qualities in writing but I always wanted to write a book. I have sleep Apnea and I don't read books I listen to them but I never read because I will fall asleep. Please advise me. Thank you
